THE FRONT DOOR

Community Fellowship (ComFe)

On Saturdays at our Outreach Center, except the last Saturday of each month, we deliver meals, hygiene supplies, shoes and clothing, bus tickets, birth certificate and ID help, resources and referrals and the kind of unhurried welcome that’s hard to find anywhere else.

a Saturday morning that feels like a living room

From 8:30 a.m. until Noon every Saturday, except the last Saturday of each month, our Outreach Center transforms into the kind of unhurried and welcoming space our unhoused neighbors rarely experience.

our Boutique

A curated, dignified clothing and essentials boutique where guests “shop” for what they need, free of charge, with the help of trained team members. It is Open during the first and third Saturdays of each month.

help with the paperwork that opens doors

In our Resource Room, trained team members help guests obtain birth certificates, IDs, Social Security cards and certificates of being an unhoused person. Referrals to other helping organizations are offered. These include resources related to housing, jobs, training, healthcare and treatment.

conversation and prayer

Volunteers and guests share conversations around tables. For those who wish, reflections on God’s word are offered during Bible Exploration. This is always optional.

Showers

Dignity on Wheels, our mobile shower unit, serves guests on Saturdays at ComFe.

COMFE SHEDULE

The ComFe schedule is predictable enough that returning guests know what to expect. And it is unhurried enough so that it creates a respite of peace, acceptance and relaxation.

TAKE PART

three ways to be part of a Saturday

Volunteer, give, or bring your group. Pick the one that fits.

VOLUNTEER AT COMFE

Saturday volunteer roles

Saturday volunteer roles include meal provision and meal serving, kitchen support, being the host of the day, serving in our Boutique, assisting with bus pass distribution and Resource Room assistance. We place volunteers in lanes that fit their gifts and our needs.

GIVE MONTHLY

fund a Saturday

A single Saturday meal feeding every guest and every volunteer costs inExcelsis an average of $375 when the meal is not provided by a visiting group. Additionally, our expenses include bus passes, hygiene supplies, Resource Room materials, Christian materials, gas and maintenance for our vehicles and all the stuff that goes along with serving a meal. Monthly donors are the reason we can promise a guest we’ll still show up next week.

VISITING ORGANIZATIONS

bring your group to ComFe

Bring your church, school, corporate team, or community organization to serve alongside us on a Saturday morning. Whether you’re providing lunch for 85 to 100 guests or fulfilling another role, every visit fosters the work.

ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP MAKE COMFE POSSIBLE

churches, universities and schools, corporations and community organizations

ComFe is sustained by those who serve alongside us. Whether sending volunteer teams, providing meals, hosting clothing drives or funding us, these are the groups that are supporting our ministry.

the days that anchor our years

Three times a year, a Saturday at ComFe expands into something bigger — an event where the community ComFe has built can show up in fullness, and where we welcome larger numbers of visiting partners and supporters.

Fourth of July BBQ

7th annual in 2026

A cookout-style celebration is taken to neighboring organizations such as the Peter & Paul Community Services campus. It’s a meal, a flag and an Independence Day that feels like a family reunion.

Thanksgiving Banquet

Our annual gathering of gratitude is a full Thanksgiving meal served around tables hosting guests, neighbors, volunteers, supporting organizations and friends of our work. All are welcomed as one community, one family.

Joy To The Lou

A Christmas gift-giving event is incorporated into our Christmas celebration at our Outreach Center. Unhoused neighbors and their families are invited. In 2025 we delivered more than 200 gifts guided by a $40 per gift limit.

Welcome Home

a bridge ministry

When a neighbor moves from the street into stable housing, Welcome Home walks alongside them through the first weeks of resettlement. Our crew is the relational continuity that follows ComFe friendship into a guest’s new home.
